Nine lives, zero f*cks. Netflix’s upcoming original animated series “Alley Cats” will feature a group of foul-mouthed feral cats causing havoc. Led by Emmy- and BAFTA award-winning creator Ricky Gervais, the cast also includes Tom Basden, Andrew Brooke, David Earl, Kerry Godliman, Jo Hartley, Diane Morgan, and features Natalie Cassidy and Tony Way.
Creator Ricky Gervais shares his excitement for the trailer, “I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about a trailer. I can’t wait for everyone to get to know these cats.”
The trailer shows the rowdy group of cats contemplating life and plotting how they’ll cause chaos: “What’s the biggest thing we can take down if we worked together?” asks Gervais’ character. Swear words aside, there are tender moments, like when the kitten of the group admits to Gus, “I wish I’d never been born.” To which Gus replies, “Don’t ever say that. Life is a gift. And you’re a cat. Do you know how good that is? To be a cat?”
The series is set to premiere on Netflix on August 7 with six episodes. Each episode is estimated to be 15 mins long. The series features a bold 2D animation style produced at the UK-based award-winning Blink Industries.
