This documentary gives the audience an inside look at the band’s journey from gaining a massive fan base to a label dispute to performing at Coachella. The film gets intimate with the members: Woosung, Dojoon, Hajoon, and Taegyeom, as they open aup bout their own experiences.
As someone who has enjoyed their music but didn’t know as much about The Rose‘s story, this documentary was the perfect way to learn more about the group. I first learned about The Rose in 2022, around the time their single “Sour” was released. A friend had recommended their music to me, and I started to listen. I enjoyed their sound and found their music healing.
The film captures the early days when the members would busk on the streets of Hongdae before signing with a label. It also showcases each member’s love for creating music and their unbreakable friendship.
The most intriguing part of the documentary is where the band took a year hiatus while battling a dispute with their label. It’s not often to hear Korean musicians talk so openly about the hardship and how that affects their mental health. They go into depth about the lawsuits, military service, and experiencing depression.
Their live performances are also featured throughout the documentary, highlighting a different venue for each song. It struck the perfect balance and pace, interlacing with interviews, concert footage, and even some animation.
“The Rose: Come Back To Me” will be released in the US and Canada on February 13, 2026, and everywhere on February 14, 2026.
