The Garfield Movie Reveals His Relationship With His Long Lost Father In Hilarious New Trailer

We hate Mondays, too, but not when there’s a new trailer for The Garfield Movie. The world-famous, lasagna-loving cat is making the jump from comic strips to the big screen, due out on Memorial Day Weekend. In the upcoming animated feature from Sony Pictures, Garfield and Odie’s perfect lives are turned up-side-down when he unexpectedly reunites with his long-lost father, Vic.

The trailer opens on a large tabby cat saying to a kitten “Wait here Junior, I’ll be right back.” Left alone in the rain, the hungry kitten followed the scent of pizza to a nearby restaurant, where he met Jon. As the tiny kitten devoured an entire pizza, plates of spaghetti and meatballs, and desserts, Jon decided to take him home and name him Garfield.

Fast forward to years later, Garfield and his canine friend Odie are living the luxurious pet life of sleeping, eating, and watching TV. All was perfect until one night, Garfield and Odie are cat-napped/dog-napped. A mysterious figure shows up to free Garfield and Odie, later revealed to be Garfield’s long-lost father, Vic, “I don’t see you for years, and when I do, you’re on the run from a deranged cat.” Together, Garfield, Odie, and Vic must figure out a way out of this sticky situation, and hilarity ensues.
