To celebrate the upcoming film “The Fall Guy,” Universal Studios Hollywood, in collaboration with Universal Pictures and 87North Productions (Hobbs & Shaw, Deadpool 2, John Wick), created an all-new exclusive stunt show designed to wow audiences.
The movie stars Ryan Gosling (Barbie) as Colt Seavers and Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer)as Jody Moreo. When the star of a blockbuster movie suddenly goes missing, it is up to stuntman Colt Seavers to find him. Seavers finds himself tangled in a much more sinister plot than he expect. The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Winston Duke (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All At Once). Directed by former stunt performer David Leitch (Bullet Train, Atomic Blonde), The Fall Guy arrives in theaters on May 3, 2024.
The all-new stunt show is produced by 87North Productions and features an original storyline designed to provide an entertaining peek behind the curtain at how stunt performances are designed and brought to life while celebrating the artistry of the stunt performers. Using the existing Water World set, the Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show features unique and dynamic stunts that’ll take your breath away. The show features jet skis, motorcycles, high falls, stuntmen engulfed in flames, and more! The pre-show will run ahead of Water World performances from April 27 through May 19. Guests can enjoy a double dose of The Fall Guy with the Stuntacular Pre-Show, as well as photo ops inside the park, and see the movie at Universal Cinema on CityWalk.
Following the performances, The Fall Guy star Ryan Gosling and director David Leitch held a short Q&A, starting with the concept for the stunt pre-show. Leitch wanted the show to reflect how much fun the movie is, “our movie is a lot of fun, there’s laughs, there’s lots of action, so those are the things we wanted to bring here today,” The pair talked about their love for the stunt community, “In our film, the character I play started in a show like this,” said Gosling. “They’re really, like, the hardest people working in show business.”
Leitch, who is a former stunt performer, calls the movie a love letter to the stunt community: “Making The Fall Guy is a love letter to all the people behind the scenes making the magic on the screen, and their lives, and telling a story within their world.
