With just one month to go, “The Acolyte” released a new trailer for the upcoming Star Wars series. The trailer revealed a mysterious dark figure igniting a red lightsaber.
The Acolyte is set 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace. The Jedi are being hunted, and Mae (Amandla Stenberg) is the prime suspect. The trailer shows Mae facing off against Indara (Carrie-Anne Moss) in a fierce lightsaber vs daggers fight. Later, it is revealed that Mae is a former student of Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-jae), who asks to be the one to bring her in. However, it seems something more sinister is at play, “I sense this is only a small part of a larger plan”, said Jedi Master Vernestra (Rebecca Henderson).
Master Sol encounters a dark figure at the end of the trailer and senses something so unfamiliar that he asks, “What are you?” The figure ignites a red lightsaber and dons a helmet reminiscent of the Knights of Ren. The Acolyte will premiere on June 4 with two episodes.
