Jordan Peele‘s latest thriller Nope has hit theaters. In the film, Jupiter’s Claim is depicted as a California Gold Rush themed tourist attraction, run by child star Ricky “Jupe” Park (played by Steven Yeun). Jupiter’s Claim serves as a pivotal location in the movie as the characters investigate the unexplained and terrifying phenomena in the sky. Now, guests visiting Universal Studios Hollywood can see the set when they visit the park as a part of the world-famous Studio Tour. The set was designed by Ruth DeJong and was carefully transported and reconstructed on site, complete with original props.
This set is massive and is even more impressive in person. We got an up-close look at the set and the details are immaculate. Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour is home to iconic sets such as Steven Spielberg‘s War of the Worlds, the Psycho house from Alfred Hitchock‘s Psycho, and more. Being able to explore Jupiter’s Claim was such a treat. Jordan Peele and his team worked collaboratively with Universal Creative to ensure authenticity and accuracy and definitely shows. From the park maps placed at the ticket windows to souvenirs, these details really made us feel like we were at the real Jupiter’s Claim.
Experiencing Jupiter’s Claim
The Studio Tour tram pulls right into Jupiter’s Claim, ensuring a fully immersive experience for all guests. The film has incredible sound design and Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour made sure that was a part of the experience as well. As the tram moves through the set, you’ll hear the sound effects as if something sinister is looming over you, objects falling, buildings creaking, and even though there are no visual effects, you can’t help but look around to see if you can catch a glimpse of something in the sky above.
Aside from the giant fixture of the Kid Sheriff, the other notable set piece is the Star Lasso Experience. In the film, this is where Jupiter’s Claim attendees can get a look at the alien phenomenon in the sky. Spoiler alert, it doesn’t bode well for them. On the Studio Tour, the Star Lasso Experience is destroyed as a result of the alien creature not taking the live horse bait. Rather, it sucks up everyone else watching the show.
How To See Jupiter’s Claim At Universal Studios Hollywood
The only way to see Jupiter’s Claim is via the Studio Tour. It is included in the general admissions ticket and takes roughly 45 for the entire tour. General attendees will see be driven through the set on the tram as a part of the tour route. VIP guests will have the ability to disembark and explore the set on foot.
