Things are about to witchy (again) in Westview. A teaser trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series “Agatha All Along”. The series is a spin-off from “WandaVision,” where Kathyrn Hahn played an overly-friendly neighbor, who was later revealed to be Agatha Harkness – a powerful witch well-versed in the Darkhold magic.
In the newly released teaser trailer, Agatha is seen working as a detective for the Westview Police Department. A body was found in the woods, with the cause of death cited as blunt force trauma. Later in the morgue, Agatha is alone with the body, looking at the toe tag when the signature “W. Maximoff” in red appears next to the date October 13. “I have a lead in the case, but I can’t shake this feeling I’m seeing it wrong,” says Agatha.
There, Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) appears to Agatha, telling her to claw her way out of the distortion spell. “Is this how you see yourself? That witch is gone.” This causes Agatha to break out of Wanda’s spell. While she regains her memories, she no longer has her powers. Agatha and her coven of Witches will seek out the dangerous and legendary Witches’ Road.
Easter Eggs
Many Easter Eggs can be found on the tag seen during the morgue scene – from the dates to the Branch number. Upon closer inspection, the tag reads in fine print, “State of New Jersey Public Library – Westview Branch #53961”. The number 53961 hints at Reality-53961, where surgeon Gina Waters, after losing her friend and colleague Stephen Strange (yep, that Stephen Strange), embarks on a journey that leads her into Kamar-Taj. There, Gina makes the discovery of magic and alternate dimensions and ends up being trained by the Ancient One, ultimately becoming the Sorcerer Supreme of that reality.
The dates listed on the library tag reference important dates and moments in the MCU:
- October 13 marks the day that Wanda Maximoff died
- January 21 could hint to the month and year that “WandaVision” premiered, which was January 15, 2021
- December 28 refers to Stan Lee’s birthday
- June 2 refers to Marvel CEO Kevin Feige’s birthday. It is also the first day of the Salem Witch trials. In WandaVision, Agatha calls the same day her “anniversary”
- August 28 is Jack Kirby’s birthday
- February 16 is Elizabeth Olsen’s birthday.
