In all the iterations of X-Men movies, Hugh Jackman has never been in a comic book accurate version of Wolverine’s costume. However, in a photo shared on the actor’s Instagram, it looks like we’ll finally see that classic yellow and blue costume in the upcoming Deadpool 3 movie.
In the past, Wolverine’s costume has rarely reflected his yellow and blue theme. Usually, it’s some type of black leather suit with the exception of in X-Men Origins: Wolverine where Logan was in his classic leather jacket look paired with a white tank top. Needless to say, the upgrade in costume for the upcoming film is exciting and much appreciated.
Since the news of Jackman’s return as Wolverine hit the internet, the actor has clarified that his upcoming appearance in Deadpool 3 will not interfere with the ending of 2017’s Logan, where the titular character ends his story. As the MCU has started to play with the multiverse, the version of Wolverine we’ll meet in Deadpool 3 is likely to be a variant, though this has not been confirmed.
Aside from the photo of Deadpool and Wolverine walking side-by-side, it has also been confirmed that Jennifer Garner will appear in the film as Elektra from the 2003 Daredevil, starring Ben Affleck. Returning to the franchise includes Morena Baccarin and Brianna Hildebrand. This is also the first Deadpool movie to be officially under the Disney/Marvel banner since the Fox/Disney merger.
It’s great to see Wolverine back in that familiar yellow and blue suit, and the design has been modified to reflect a more tactical and modern look rather than plain spandex. Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on May 3, 2024.
