Pinocchio reunites director Robert Zemeckis with actor Tom Hanks, who plays the loving wood-carver Gepetto in the movie. The film follows the animated version quite closely, with a couple of added characters such as Fabiana (Kyanne Lamaya) and Sofia the Seagull (voiced by Lorraine Bracco).
Additional cast includes Joseph Gordon Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Keegan Michael Key as Honest John, Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy (who sang a gorgeous rendition of “When You Wish Upon A Star”), and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the adorable Pinocchio.
While the cast gives a superb performance, this live-action remake doesn’t capture the charm or the messaging of the original film.
