The grim-grinning ghosts will have even more space to socialize in the upcoming themed expansion for the iconic Haunted Mansion. In 2024, the outdoor queue area will include a new area to build on the lore of the Mansion. There will also be a brand-new themed retail shop adjacent to the ride exit.

The story behind the haunted manor is said to have been built by a prosperous sea captain, and the new expansion will tie into the stories, including new gardens inspired by Haunted Mansion characters Master Gracey, Madame Leota, and the one-eyed cat.

The additions will include unique elements such as a water fountain, a gazebo, themed statuary, and new landscaping. Guests will see the new greenhouse where groundskeepers for the mansion care for their plants. Existing components such as the pet cemetery and the horseless carriage will remain. The new retail show is themed after Madame Leota, the famed fortune teller from the attraction.

As a part of the expansion, Disneyland will be making enhancements to the plaza adjacent to Tiana’s Palace, including elegant park-like settings perfect for relaxing and live entertainment. Construction will begin in January 2024.
